C. 35 Acres at Ballinakill, Courtown, Gorey, Co. Wexford – Auction Report

SOLD AUGUST 2024 – Excellent C. 35 Acre Roadside Holding For Sale By Online Auction On Wednesday, 14th August At 12 Noon

Today’s auction saw a super c. 35 acre holding come to the market in an excellent coastal location. The lands are currently in grass, are of good quality and benefit from extensive road frontage. According to the auctioneer David Quinn, the road frontage “may offer scope for residential development subject to planning permission”.

Mr Quinn guided the property between €10,000 and €12,000 per acre in advance of the auction and noted approximately ten registered bidders, most of whom were local farmers.

The land was offered for sale in the following lots:
Lot 2: C. 12.5 Acres
Lot 3: C. 22.9 Acres

Lot 3 opened at €240,000 and with prompt bidding from five parties, it quickly surged past the €300,000 mark. After further bidding, the c. 22.9 acres were declared on the market at €330,000. However, with three bidders still active, Lot 3 continued to move beyond €400,000. Ultimately, the hammer fell at €430,000 – a tremendous result.

Lot 2 sold for an undisclosed sum, well above the guide price.

Speaking after the auction, David Quinn declared the auction as “an unqualified success”. Mr Quinn added that his client “was over the moon with the result which was far in excess of the guide price”.
