Today’s auction saw an attractive roadside holding with equestrian facilities come to the market. Due to the property’s location and road frontage there may potential for a residence subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions. Auctioneer David Quinn had guided the property at €150,000 and noted “good interest mainly from local farmers and business people”.
David added that there was six registered bidders for the property.
On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €100,000 and quickly burst past €150,000 with the pace of bidding only settling down after €190,000 was bid. A short break was called with the property at €205,000 and after taking client instructions Mr Quinn declared the property as “on the market”. With only two bidders remaining active after this point, the hammer ultimately fell at €219,000.
Speaking immediately after the auction, David Quinn described “an extraordinary result which exceeded our client’s expectations”. David added that “the price achieved equates to €21,900 per acre which is well above typical values in the West Wicklow area”.
